Full width dormer loft conversion creating a vaulted stairwell and feature landing space.

This loft conversion in a large semi-detached Bristol home created a bedroom, bathroom and additional living space. The brief was to make full use of the existing roof space and give the homeowners an upper floor that could be used independently when needed.
A full width dormer provided additional headroom, while a vaulted stairwell opened up the landing to create space for a seating area.
Multiple structural steel beams were installed to support the altered roof and new layout. Two Velux roof windows and a large feature window bring natural light into the stairwell and seating area, with views across Bristol towards the Dundry Hills.
The new double bedroom includes built-in storage, with a bathroom fitted beneath the sloping roof. A walk in shower with herringbone tiling completes the bathroom.
A compact kitchenette and further storage give the floor more flexibility, allowing guests to have their own space and facilities within the home.
Our team and trusted subcontractors completed the structural work, carpentry and internal finishes. Engineered timber flooring was laid throughout the new space, with new handrails and spindles connecting the staircase to the existing floors below.
The completed conversion gives the homeowners a bedroom, bathroom and a separate place to sit and enjoy the views, making use of space that was previously within the roof.
